It's no April Fool's Joke...we have had a breakthrough day. Lizzie has been delightful. She has been very happy and calm. Her first plane flight went remarkably well. She didn't make a peep when we took off or landed. She actually danced a little when we landed like she was trying to bounce more.
We left our Wuhan guides at the airport and there were lots of tears. It was very sad to leave Hubei. As glad as we are to be on the last leg of this journey, it was still very hard to leave Lizzie's home province. She on the other hand seemed very happy to move on! We reached Guangzhou and the White Swan by 3:30 pm and were checked in and in our rooms by 4:00 pm. Jeff has already made a laundry trip and we had a great dinner with some of our travel group. I think everyone in our travel group opted for "Western" food tonight at a resturant called Lucy's. I had a grilled cheese sandwich and it was delicious. There are adoptive couples and babies everywhere! I mean everywhere. In Wuhan our group was a novelty that caused lots of attention. Here everyone is an adoptive family and the businesses all cater to us. I can't wait to do some shopping for Lizzie tomorrow. Poor baby has been wearing the same outfits. Everything we brought for her is too small! At dinner Lizzie went to Jeff without too much fuss. She definitely wanted to know I was close by and wasn't sure at first, but he threw her up in the air a few times and she decided he was A-Ok. Again before bed we took her down to the waterfall in the lobby and she actually let Jeff carry her. As long as I was right next to her she was perfectly happy, as you can tell from the picture. Jeff was so happy. It has been a long week for him. And for me too. After about two minutes he said, "Holy cow she is a load!" and I said, "Tell me about it!" We can't wait to find out her weight at the doctor appointment this week. She is so rounded and healthy. We love it.
Tomorrow is Lizzie's Visa picture and then we are free until the later afternoon. Jeff will have to do paperwork to prepare for our Consulate appointment and then we are having a group dinner at a Thai resturant. Yum!
Cooper and Nate, just five more days and we will be home with you! We cannot wait. Have a great weeekend with Grandma and Grandpa. We love you so much!!
Goodnight from Guangzhou everyone!
