November 19, 2010

November 19th is a very big day for our family.
You see, Jeff and Nate share their birthday on this day.  Nate was born in 2001 on Jeff's 32nd birthday.  So, it's a special day for us for two very important reasons.

We started the day (early-6:30 a.m.) with presents and our new birthday tradition, "The Birthday Donut".

The Birthday Boy (complete with a little left over chocolate frosting)

Then Nate moved onto school and Jeff to work.  Can you believe that there are two other students in his class this year that have the same birthday?  That means that Room 10 had cupcakes at recess, cupcakes at lunch, and cupcakes on their way out the door at the end of the day.  I really felt for his poor teacher.  Poor Jeff didn't get any cake at work.

That evening we had a birthday party for Nate and a few friends.  We went to a fun place called FuzeFit close to our house.  It has tons of fun games and activities for the kids.  We had relay races, bike racing, dancing, wall ball, a rock climbing wall and just all sorts of nine year old boy fun.

Nine Wonderful Things About Nate
  1. His Smile-It can just light you up.
  2. He is very affectionate.  He will still hold hands with his parents and sister at school and tolerate kiss goodbyes.
  3. His attitude-this boy finds a way to see the silver lining in every situation.
  4. Nate is loyal and protective of his sister and brother.
  5. Nate can entertain himself for hours.  We love watching him play with his Bionicles in his imaginary world.
  6. Nate wakes up happy.
  7. Nate goes to bed happy.
  8. Nate is becoming an avid reader.  His teacher commented in his conference that he is always reading.
  9. Nate is squirrelly, but in a cute, funny way.

 Ten Wonderful Things About Jeff
(Since a list of 41 would be a bit much)
  1. He has graciously let his birthday become 90% Nate and 10% him.
  2. He starts the morning coffee for me on his way out the door each morning.
  3. He loves holidays probably more than the kids (with the exception of Valentine's Day which he has written off as a Hallmark Conspiracy).
  4. He helps out around the house, a lot.  He doesn't have to be asked.  He looks around and sees what needs to be done and will just jump in.  I really love that.
  5. He grocery shops and does it well.
  6. I love watching and listening to him play with the kids; Legos, Risk, Sports, Castle & Dragons, Barbies, Tea Party...
  7. He is the fun parent.
  8. He often brings me People magazine from the grocery store.
  9. He is hysterically funny.
  10. He is the most modest person I know.  He will be horrified that I made this list and demand it be removed from the blog.
(Not happening Jefe')

Happy Birthday to My Favorite Scorpios!
