Hi All,
Well, in the eyes of the Chinese government Lizzie is ours. After spending 24 hours together we returned to have our registrar interview. We were asked several questions and the last being, "Do you want to adopt this child?" Of course we said, "YES!" Although,we think Lizzie is not too hip on the idea. We hope she will come around.
Lizzie is grieving very badly and it is hard to watch her go through this and feel so helpless. She doesn't want anything to do with Jeff yet. He has to stay about three feet away at all times or she gets pretty upset. Yesterday, she would start to cry if he came too close. Today, she doesn't cry, but starts to fuss and throw her hands over her face. Jeff has tried to carry and cuddle her and she just cries and cries. She only wants me right now, but he knows she will come around. Right now he stays outside what he calls the "inner circle". She does not want to be put down AT ALL. She doesn't want to sit in a high chair, she doesn't want to sit on a blanket and play with toys unless she is in my lap. She prefers being held and walked. But did I mention she is over 22 pounds? My arms are about to fall off and my back is pretty sore. However, today she started to look up at me and babble and it makes it all worth it.
She is quite a babbler and listening to her whisper and chat little Chinese words is just about the cutest thing ever. We went for a long walk after lunch and she and Jeff are napping right now. Lizzie is a great eater and hasn't refused any food yet. For lunch she had bok choy, rice, chopped pork won-ton and even some of my grilled cheese sandwhich.
Lizzie is by far the longest and the biggest baby in our group. Some of the little girls are peanuts. The doctor came by yesterday and told us she was "Milk-fat". I know that it is a translation thing, but I don't like anyone calling my baby girl fat! We prefer "Well rounded" and an "Exceptional Eater". We tried to get her to play on her tummy today and she was extremely irritated by the whole episode. I think she has spent a lot of time in huge clothing and not moving around too much. She is extremely flexible though. It is amazing. When she lays on her back she flips her legs up and her feet are back by her head!
Cooper and Nate, Lizzie loves to look at your picture. We have shown her both of you lots and lots of times. We miss you both so, so much. Daddy and I can't wait for your hugs and kisses. We love you!
