Made it to the Top!!!

Made it to the Top!!!

Hi Everyone,
Today was the Great Wall of China and it lived up to the name. The pictures do not do justice to the view, but it gives you an idea. Jeff and I took as many pictures as we could manage given we had about an hour and a half to get to the top and down again and we were about to keel over. The wall has uneven steps which made pacing hard, and you really have to watch your feet or else you could take quite a tumble. Our guide, Lisa, said,"On the way up it is hard on your heart, on the way down hard on your legs." Jeff and I certainly found this to be true. But along with 6 other people in our group of 26 we made it to the top. It was incredible.
We also went to a jade factory today and a cloisonne factory as well. Then, of course, we did some shopping there too. Next, we had lunch at The Friendship Store which apparently most tours go through. It was good, but tons of tourists. Finally, we ended another day of touring at Ming Tombs and the surrounding gardens. The statues are carved marble created to accompany the emperor and guard him in the afterlife. The haze burned off in the afternoon and we actually had beautiful blue skies. The weather has been in the mid to high 60s. We really couldn't ask for better.
Tonight after dinner we have to pack our bags and get ready to go. We leave the hotel tomorrow morning at 6:00 am for our 8:00 am flight to Wuhan. We are heading to Lizzie's province and can't wait!! Our wake up call will be at 5:00 am so it's going to be another long travel day. We will try to blog from Wuhan also.
Cooper, thanks for the warning about panda bears. We didn't see any panda bears when we were climbing the Great Wall. No bamboo around anywhere. But we will keep a look out for pandas. It was so good to hear your voices this morning Nate and Cooper. We hope you have a great weekend with Nana and Granddaddy. We love you!
Thanks everyone for following along. We can't wait to read comments when we get to Guangzhou. We have heard that there is blog access both ways there.
Love, Rhonda and Jeff

HiGuys-
Looks like you are having a great time.
The Great Wall is awesome in the truest sense of the word. When we went it was Soooo... cold and windy we had to "hide" behind the walls for warmth.
Excellent timing for you two.
Enjoy and can't wait to see pictures of Lizzie!!
