Last Tuesday was a big day for our family. We officially readopted Lizzie in the eyes of the State of California. This means she can have a California Birth Certificate just like everyone else. It will make registering for Kindergarten, sports, etc... much easier. Up until this point we have been lugging in Adoption Certificates, Citizenship Certificates, etc. It took a few forms(5) and a little cash($20), but I finally got around to filing a month ago.
One of my dearest friends Jane needed to do the same paperwork for her daughter Emma. We decided to get off the stick and file it together hoping we could get times scheduled together. It worked and we were given court dates on the same day about ten minutes apart.
Our family really enjoyed going through this with Jane, Robert, Ethan and Emma. We all celebrated together with a fun lunch. Jeff and I took Cooper and Nate out of school since the appointment was 10:30 a.m. and Jane and Robert did the same with their son, Ethan. Nana and Granddaddy and Grandma all came for the ceremony as well as Emma's Aunt Susie. So we had a nice big group at lunch. It was a great day.
