Our Subaru Outback has been a problem free car for six years. No issues at all whatsoever. In the past month the car has cost us upwards toward $2000. After the latest issue this week that was supposed to be a quick $200 fix and mushroomed into $1300 ,I over heard this conversation between Cooper and my husband:
Cooper: Dad, you can have all the money in my bank to fix the car. That might help.
Jeff: (His heart bursting with pride that his son is so generous and helpful) Wow Buddy! That's really nice of you.
Cooper: Yeah, you can pay me back whenever you get more money.
Jeff: (slightly thrown that Cooper expects to be paid back responds with a little sarcasm) Pay you back?? Are you going to charge me interest too?
Cooper: What's interest?
Jeff: When you borrow money from a bank you have to pay the money back plus a little more. That's how they make their money.
Cooper: Really?? Cool! Yeah, you can have all my money and then pay me back and the interest too!
Jeff: Usually, family doesn't make family pay back interest.
Cooper: That doesn't sound like a very good idea to me, Dad. How am I going to make any money?
