We spent the weekend in the San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay area. Jeff took Monday off and we kept the kids out of school and had a wonderful three day weekend.

Cooper is studying the California Missions and so we decided to take advantage of Jeff's family's Morro Bay residence to pick a mission that most kids do not get to research. We spent a couple of hours Saturday touring the mission, researching and taking lots of pictures. We also cruised around San Luis Obispo, such a cute town.

We also did some shopping in Morro Bay; our regular stops of The Shell Shop (a must if ever in Morro Bay with children) and a couple of Surf Shops. We picked up a new wetsuit for Coop and that means Nate and Lizzie got the used hand me downs. Jeff and I were slightly worried that Nate and Lizzie would be upset about only Cooper getting a new suit, but we shouldn't have worried. Boys hate clothes shopping. It doesn't even matter if it's something cool like a wetsuit for boogie boarding. Cooper felt like he was being tortured because he had to try on the new suit. Nate was so excited that he didn't have to try on a suit and just got Cooper's old one. Cooper was actually complaining about always having to have the new suit, "Nate never has to try on the new suit!! It's always me! Why can't I ever have the hand me down??!" Lizzie's young enough to be excited to get Nate's suit so it all worked out fine.

Sunday we hit a small zoo in the morning and the kids enjoyed seeing the animals. After lunch it was off to the beach to use the "new and slightly used" wetsuits. They had a blast. I took a nap on the beach in the sand dunes because without a wetsuit, there is no earthly way I was getting in Northern California ocean water in early spring. That falls to Jeff. I believe I already mentioned he's the fun parent.

Monday we slowly headed home. We picked up our Sophie dog from Nana and Granddaddy. Pancakes for dinner capped off an awesome weekend.
