This is Jeff and Cooper in our backyard. Normally, we don't have such a clear shot of our 89 year old neighbor's 50 year old rusty shed. However, 2008 started off with a decent little storm ( nine inches of rain over three days) that blew down two sections of our fence. Now, the fence was probably a good twenty years old or more. But still, it is disheartening to stand at your back window and watch planks of wood blowing in the wind before the whole section just topples over. Jeff and Cooper got out there today when it finally stopped raining and tacked back up the sections and the planks too. The fence definitely needs to be replaced pronto, but at least it will keep Sophie in our yard and our neighbor's two little dogs in his. I think it might be hard to find a fence person right now as we see lots of yards with fence sections down. Cooper was driving with my Mom and saw the state of some newly exposed backyards and said, "Well that's embarassing! Just look at what a mess their backyard is!"
Our power was out seven hours the first day of the storm, but we had it back on by 7:00 p.m. and didn't have to go the night without heat. Our neighbors across the street who are on a different electicity grid didn't get power back for over 48 hours until this morning. We felt so lucky to have our power back on. It was a wet weekend, but it was also very cozy. We enjoyed lots of pajama wearing, relaxing family time.

Love the storm too, although we were lucky and didn't have any damage, so it was just fun to watch. Hope your homeowner's insurance covers your fence!

We were pretty okay for the storm. Lost power for about 5 seconds. I must say we feel like one of the lucky ones!!
