This was Lizzie's first soccer season. She was a
Lava Girl and she was awesome. She understood the game, which I'm sure is a by product of watching somewhere around 112 of her brother's soccer games in the last four years. There have also been endless hours of playing "soccer" in the backyard with "the brudders" as well. The Brudder version doesn't always have a referee and tends to get a lot rougher. This home version of soccer is something like Never Say Die/ Every Man For Yourself/ Full Body Contact Is Allowed until of course someone gets hurt and then it's over.
Anyhoo...Lizzie was an awesome forward. She scored several times this season. She was also a great defender. Those little 5 year girls didn't have much of a chance getting by her when she was on defense. She had a big kick and wasn't afraid to use it. Five year old girls coming at her were a piece of cake compared to an 11.5 year old, 87 pound 6th grader or a 8.5 year old, 68 pound third grader. We had so much fun watching her play. Here are a few highlights...
